Preparations

Ah, firing up the old blog again. I'm keeping KenyaJenn because (a) I like it, and (b) it was Kenya that really started me on my independent travels, so it seems fitting that the blog keeps that moniker.

This time I'm off to India - leaving July 4th, there for an entire year. I'll be teaching art at the Kodaikanal International School in the town of Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, India. Fact: I do not know how to teach art. In fact, I don't really know how to teach anything. I have about 2.5 weeks left to figure this out.

Further news: graduated from Princeton! Hurrah. One might ask, how does a degree in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology lead to teaching art in India? The answer, my friends, is a fairly long story. Suffice it to say that it was random chance, mischievous fate, whatever you want to call it.

I'm currently soaking in as much Victoria, BC, as I can before leaving; I'm going to miss it! Much as I'm excited to be off exploring again, I wish I'd had a month or two more at home. I've been so lucky to grow up here and have this marvelous place to return to.

I'll only be teaching half-time while I'm at KIS, so hopefully I'll have time to update this more regularly than I did last summer. Also, the school has wireless internet (luxury! gasp!), which is considerably more convenient than driving in the dark to a large shed with a finnicky padlock and a tragically slow connection, which is what I was dealing with last summer.
